About Me

I currently serve as the Assistant Visual Caption Manager at the Santa Clara Vanguard and former Associate Director and Marching Band Director at Vista Ridge and Lake Travis High Schools. With 16 years of instruction and experience at all skill levels, let me share what has led to consistent success— from preparation of parts to planning and running rehearsals, every aspect affects both student outcomes and experience.

Stagger Breathing and Chord Tone Labeling

Stagger breathing, set numbers, and chord tones labeled right in the score. Parts generated and a guide on how to use the information most effectively! This is one of the most crucial tools used in all my programs. No more class time writing in sets, labeling chords, writing in breathing counts. Teach everything now rather figuring it out in September or October!

Brass Horn Carriage Guide PDF

Purchase the guide I used at all programs throughout my career and why those groups look different. Great upper body presence and horn moves are a science with that can be taught and are one of the most underrated and misunderstood things that make a huge impression in the overall presentation.

Every week I analyzed video in depth and created a "fix list" that would guide weekly goals and lesson planning. This list would also be shared with students and they were encouraged to fix as many things on their own or with help from student leaders. I would love to create the same set of detailed and high priority items for you and your students!

What area are you based in?

I live in Austin, TX but am happy to travel!

We are on a time crunch. Will a clinic slow down rehearsal?

I know the feeling! Just let me know what you need. I can dig deep into fixing something or just observe and offer a plan moving forward to address issues. It's YOUR program so I can adjust however best suits your timeline and goals

Why consult instead of teach full time?

After teaching for over 14 years, I wanted to have more time for other aspects of my life. I love band and I love helping others, but I also love the variety of working with different programs and flexible schedule. Over the years I've constantly tweaked processes and creative rehearsal techniques and been able to work with some of the best. I would love to share!

How much time for score editing with breathing counts and chord tones?

It depends on the level of detail! Turnaround time will be no more than 1 week per movement, but as a former teacher, I can absolutely work fast in time . If I've already worked on the file and you receive new drill, I can add set numbers in just a few hours

What's turn around time for video feedback?

I'll do my best to get you a list within 2 days of video sent! I recorded runs on Friday games or Saturday contests and always wanted a plan ready by Sunday night. If you need Sunday to plan based on the feedback, just let me know and I can get them done on Saturday
